God’s Country
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are 1-0 and ranked #5 in the country after getting a well-earned win over the Texas A&M Aggies in College Station. There was a ton of pressure on the Irish to secure a win in what many considered to be the toughest game on their schedule — and they more than passed the test.
Now there’s a new type of test. The Irish return to South Bend for the home opener against the MAC’s Northern Illinois Huskies in a game that is about the complete opposite of the one that they just played.
We still need an Anti-Preview — so let’s go.
WHAT SHOULD YOU BE EATING
I kind of feel like many of you still have a honey-do list or some other random stuff to get down around the house. We don’t need to be messing around all morning in the kitchen, on the grill, or whatever. Here’s something nice and easy that absolutely slaps — and looks like the fanciest bowl of dog food ever.
WHAT SHOULD YOU BE DRINKING?
I typically stay away from telling people what beer they should drink (which is like telling someone what kind of bedroom kink they should prefer). However… I make an exception this week as the Irish come back home to God’s Country.
FUN STATS
Historically, Notre Dame is 10-0 versus MAC schools, and the only real scare came back in 2021 against the Toledo Rockets (thank you Dequan Finn).
Notre Dame is 110-19-4 all-time in home openers and we don’t need to talk about the one a couple of years ago. No— we really don’t.
FUN ODDS
Notre Dame is a 27.5 point favorite over NIU with an over/under of 44.5.

FUN PREDICTION
Of all of the good that Notre Dame produced against Texas A&M, the downfield passing game wasn’t one of them. I expect that to change drastically Saturday — and i expect the defense to play lights out. A big sleeper here — 52-3, Irish.
