Ready to blow up
The Notre Dame football roster is full of great players — known and unknown. No matter the place on the depth chart or the recruiting ranking a player had attached to him before his arrival at Notre Dame — there are probably some things I really like about him. So over the course of the next few months, let’s take a positive approach to running down the roster.
Almost daily (just being honest) I’ll list three things I like about a single player on the roster, and as an additional bonus, I’ll post some extra pics over on the OFD Instagram account (be sure to follow RIGHT HERE).
Next up…
#3 Jaylen Sneed — Linebacker
The 6’1” 225 pound senior from Hilton Head High School in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, was the highest rated recruit in Notre Dame’s 2022 recruiting class. A massive amount of expectations were placed on the shoulders of this dynamic prep star… but it’s took a moment for those expectations to become a reality.
Here are three things I like about Jaylen Sneed:
1. He has a fantastic nickname.
Sneed was blessed with a great nickname from high school… Nuke (or some version of it). Obviously it has some tie to how explosive Sneed can be — I just hope his shower shoes are in good shape.

2. He’s still here.
If we’re being honest… there are a lot of us that thought Sneed would have been in the portal by now. His career hasn’t been on a steady incline, and things have took a minute — but there’s more than that. Sneed has been visibly upset about things, such as walking off the field while the team sung the alma mater after a game.
But he’s still here. He WANTS to be the guy and there’s a general feeling that he can and will be the guy in 2025. Love it.
3. The BIG season is still within reach.
This kind of ties in with the last point, but Sneed could be one of those guys that absolutely goes off in his senior year. It’s hard to get a firm grip on the expectations for Sneed with a new position coach and defensive coordinator coming in, but all of the physical traits to be a terror on the field are already in his possession. If Chris Ash can figure out the best way to unleash Sneed, he could have a fantastic final season in South Bend.
Jaylen Sneed has totally transformed his game in the second half of the season and it’s because of plays like this. Penn State wants outside zone on 3rd and 2 and Sneed blows the whole thing up, Christian Gray great fill. pic.twitter.com/cTbJ2kyzJc
