A floodgate of news
After there initially being very little news regarding the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and college football’s transfer portal, it’s been quite noisy lately (and during the holidays so pardon the late posting).
On Christmas Eve, the Irish received a commitment from former Wisconsin Badgers wide receiver, Will Pauling.

Pauling, one of the few bright spots of the Wisconsin offense, has pulled in 129 catches for 1,379 yards, and 9 touchdowns in his career — some of which was with Mike Brown as his wide receivers coach.
We knew the Irish were going to try and pull out a few pass-catchers from the transfer portal this cycle — but I really never considered that one of them would be a tight end (which was probably short-sighted on my part given the roster numbers). On Christmas Day, former Arkansas Razorbacks tight end Ty Washington announced his commitment to transfer to Notre Dame.

Washington’s commitment was even more surprising to me, considering the fact that he was kicked off of the team by head coach Sam Pittman. During his time at Arkansas, Washington had 14 catches for 221 yards and 4 touchdowns. He will likely be a grad student at Notre Dame with two years of eligibility remaining.
There will be more transfer portal news on the way — both coming and going. Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame are doing everything they can to ensure the best roster they can possibly build for 2025.
