Another bad loss.
Ledman:
Oregon got the ball to start the game and scooted down the field for a touchdown in 7 plays for 75 yards. Just 3:14 had come off the game clock, but ultimately, the game was already over. Oregon could do whatever they wanted on offense for most of the first half while Purdue struggled to get things going. The one drive for Purdue that looked promising for the Boilermakers ended in a field goal attempt that wasn’t even close.
Purdue went the entire first quarter without completing a pass. In fact, they didn’t even ATTEMPT a pass in the first half quarter. Would probably have to go deep into the history book to see when the last time that was true.
The second half was much better for the Purdue defense. Sure, they gave up 14 points, and Oregon took their foot off the gas, but for awhile there in the first half, especially the first quarter, it looked like Oregon might have been able to name their score.
On the offensive end of the football, Purdue was one dimensional. The passing game was more or less non-existent. The run game however showed sparks with Purdue racking up over 200 yards rushing. Reggie Love led the way but unfortunately it just wasn’t enough to translate into points.
I’m not entirely sure how to feel about this one yet. We knew Purdue was going to lose this one but they certainly put up more of a fight than I thought they would.

How about those uniforms??
Jed:
For the first time since 2013 at home against Ohio State, Purdue is shut out. That 2013 season was clearly a glimpse of the future of the disaster Hazel would end up being. The question now becomes, does Mike Bobinski have the patience to allow this kind of results to continue?
The biggest stat to support my thoughts? A defensive minded head coach has been outscored 269-93 over the last 6 games. That isn’t remotely close and it’s time to be the first program to make a move and get things lined up. The crowd was great tonight at nearly 60k. My guess is following the bye week, we’ll see a big drop off.
