Could Purdue find a way to win a game?
There’s no doubt about it, this is a game Ryan Walters desperately needs to win. Northwestern is not a good football team. Are they as bad as Purdue? That remains to be seen. Northwestern is 1-4 in conference play while Purdue sits at exactly 0 wins. It’s been a tough road. Now though, the Wildcats are headed into Ross-Ade Stadium this Saturday with a noon kickoff slated, so if you were hoping to watch WWE Crown Jewel you’ll have to do that in the evening as it starts at 1:00, and a 1.5 point dog at home. That number seemed a bit surprising to me as I expected Purdue to be heavier dogs, but I guess there’s a reason those folks in Vegas continue to make money while the rest of us (on balance) lose. That’s how gambling works.
Now, the word out of Purdue’s camp is that both Hudson Card and Ryan Browne will play against Northwestern. Is that a good idea? Maybe, if they are used right. Card is the better passer and Browne is the better runner, but if I know that you can bet that Northwestern knows that. You’ve got to prevent the offense from becoming predictable.
