The volleyball team grabbed a top 10 win.
As disappointing as Saturday was for Purdue football fans, there was just as much reason for joy if you were following the Purdue volleyball game that was going on at the same time. Purdue was competing in the SMU Doubletree Invitational. In their first match they took down Houston 3-0. That one was never in doubt. The next match was the one that people were looking forward to.
Saturday, Purdue faced #10 Kentucky in a marquee early season matchup. Purdue would lose the first set 25-21 before absolutely dominating the second set 25-13. The third set was back and forth but Purdue pulled out a tough 25-23 third set victory. Purdue then dominated the fourth and finished off the match with a 25-16 final set. It was a dominating performance against a top 10 team that put not just the Big Ten but the rest of the volleyball world on notice that Purdue is going to be trouble this season.
After winning the tournament, it only made sense that Purdue would get some hardware.
They put on a show in Dallas.

As you can see, Eva Hudson was named the tournament MVP with Chloe Chicoine and Raven Colvin joining her on the all-tournament team. It was a great showing and a huge statement.
