Daniel Jacobsen , the 7-foot-3 three-star big man from Brewster (NH) Academy, has committed to Purdue, he told ZAGSBLOG.
Jacobsen, a Wisconsin native who chose the Boilermakers over Wisconsin, will become the latest big man to play for coach Matt Painter, following in the footsteps of Isaac Haas, Matt Haarms and Zach Edey, among others.
“I am committing to Purdue University,” he said. “I feel like they are the best place for for me to play on a great team and develop into a pro. I would describe myself as a stretch than can can not only score in the paint but can also shoot the three. I would also say I am a good shot blocker and rebounder.”

Under Painter, Purdue has had 5 players 7’0″+ (Hammons, Haas, Haarms, Edey, and Berg)
In a total 14 seasons of play, those players have combined for:
5,444 points (11.5 per game)
2,865 rebounds (6.1 per game)
825 blocks (1.7 per game)— cobra. (@cobrastats) November 1, 2023
Said Brewster Academy coach Jason Smith:
“Daniel has tremendous upside and potential. He has a soft touch around the rim and ability to step out and make 3-pointers. Very modern game which with thrive under the tutelage of Coach Painter and staff at Purdue.”
The Boilermakers already have four commitments in their 2024 class. Top-25 recruit Kanon Catchings highlights the group that includes three-star center Raleigh Burgess and guards Jack Benter and CJ Cox.
“I believe I will be the last 2024 to commit, but I can’t wait to get campus and get to work!” Jacobsen said.
