The Boilers head into game three with some major contributors on the list of unavailable against the Beavers
The Purdue Boilermakers will be without a number of key players in their matchup against Oregon State. Purdue will find out very quickly about their depth at a number of key positions but none so much as wide receiver, linebacker, and cornerback with eight players from those positions being out. Most notably on that list is wide receiver Jamal Edrine, Purdue’s best wide receiver on the roster. Along with him, Georgia transfer CJ Smith continues to be unable to play after a slower than expected recovery from an injury.
A week after giving up the most points in Ross Ade Stadium history, Purdue also finds itself without defensive backs Nyland Green, Derrick Rogers Jr., Smiley Bradford, and Salim Turner-Muhammed along with linebackers Winston Berglund and Owen Davis being out for a second week. Not an ideal situation just three games into the season for a program that was lacking quality depth at nearly every position outside of quarterback and running back.
Also finding their way onto the list of unavailable players is Joey Tanona, the Notre Dame transfer who has been a bit of a bright spot amongst a position group that has been disappointing so far this season. Tanona, who suffered a near career ending injury in a car wreck during his time at Notre Dame, will miss the game and leave a position group without the most quality backup it has.
