Henson comes from an exceptional background and has previously worked with Odom at Missouri
After initial reports from FootballScoop.com were announced that Josh Henson would be named offensive coordinator previously (first reported at Hammer and Rails by Kyle Holderfield), Barry Odom and Purdue Football have announced Henson will be the Offensive Coordinator for the Boilers. Henson has previously worked as an offensive coordinator at Missouri (2009-2015) under Gary Pinkel and at USC (2022-2024) under Lincoln Riley. Henson and Odom worked together at Missouri from 2009-2011 and against in 2015 before Henson went to coach offensive line under Mike Gundy at Oklahoma State. Henson has also worked under Les Miles at LSU and Oklahoma State, Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M, and Bob Simmons at Oklahoma State.

Henson’s offensive scheme blends a lot of the influences he has had over the years but notable to Purdue fans will be his ability to account for bodies in the box, something that was not always done under previous OC Graham Harrell. Henson has spent time under coaches who run the spectrum of a run first offense to a pass first offense and appears able to build a scheme tailored to the personnel presented to him (something Odom was adamant about in his opening press conference remarks).
