What do Ryan and I think of the hire?
It’s hard to believe that it was just a week ago that Ryan Walters was fired by Mike Bobinski and Purdue already has a new head football coach on their hands. It was officially announced yesterday that Barry Odom, formerly of UNLV, would be the next head man for Purdue football. That worked out great for the Boiler Alert podcast as we were set to record about 10 hours later. Perfect timing. Ryan and I are by no means experts on all things Barry Odom but we certainly have some information on him that I think all Boilermaker fans will find helpful. We give our initial impressions of the hire and talk about maybe a coach or some players who might come with him (though this is all speculation right now).
Then, we talk about the two most recent men’s basketball games. Purdue comes away with a 1-1 split over the December Big Ten games. A bit disappointing, but I think both Penn State and Maryland are going to surprise a lot of people this year. Plus, it’s never easy to go on the road in the Big Ten and win a game so a loss at Penn State won’t necessarily haunt this team come March.
So, give us a listen, we also talk a little Purdue volleyball as they head to the Sweet 16, and share it with all your friends, or even your enemies.
