Only one former Boilermaker remained in the NFL playoffs. Unfortunately, he just suffered his first playoff loss.
Super Bowl LIX
George Karlaftis Kansas City Chiefs
Vs Eagles: 4 total tackles, 3 solo, 1 sack, 1 tackle for loss, 1 qb hit
Playing in his third Super Bowl in his 3-year career, George Karlaftis looked to be a part of the first team in NFL history to win 3 consecutive Super Bowls. Unfortunately for George and the rest of the Chiefs, the Philadelphia Eagles had other plans. A 40-22 stomping was made to look close by some garbage time points from Patrick Mahomes and the KC offense. On the other side of the ball, the Eagles offense looked like it couldn’t be slowed down. George Karlaftis did finish with 1 of the 2 sacks against Philly, but it certainly was not enough. The Chiefs now holds a 9-1 record since Karlaftis joined in the 2022 draft class and for George, a .900 winning percentage in the playoffs must rank him among the best among players with 10+ games. A sour note to an extremely successful career for the former Boilermaker.
