On a deep three to beat the shot clock.
Given that Braden Smith ended the game against Toledo with 997 career points we knew he was going to reach 1,000 points today against the Golden Gophers. It took a few minutes, but with the shot clock winding down Braden Smith received a pass well beyond the arc. With just about three seconds to shoot Smith decided to put one up. Nothing but net. And that was it. 1,000 points.

The graphics folks at Purdue had this one ready to go and it’s a beauty. The gold autograph is a nice touch.
Smith reached this milestone in the 88th game of his Purdue career. Over his career he’s averaged 11.5 points per game and 6.4 assists per game. The junior has many more games to go and will undoubtedly etch his name all over the Purdue record books.
