Ina tough first road game, the Purdue offense looked lost.

Here’s the stat line for Marquette standout Kam Jones. He dominated the game from the tip to the finish. He has 1st Team All-American written all over him. He arguably will be the best player that Purdue will see all season. He was as good as advertised and was a lockdown defender as well. He gave the Purdue guards fits on both ends of the floor.

The number of turnovers Purdue had last night. Marquette had ELEVEN (!) steals on the Boilermakers, giving them fits with their full-court press, a Shaka Smart special. Shaka has given Coach Painter fits with his up-tempo defense since he was at VCU years ago. Nothing changed last night with it, Shaka has a system that has worked forever now, just like Coach Painter.

The total number of points that Purdue got from Myles Colvin, CJ Cox, and Gicarri Harris. Purdue needs Colvin to be a scorer off the bench who can swing games and it has now been two games since he has scored, Cox cooled down this game after lighting Alabama on fire, and Harris is struggling to find his rhythm as the 4th option with the starting group.

Caleb Furst, who contributed 8 points and two rebounds off the bench, played a much more productive number of minutes than the starter, Will Berg, who slugged around for nine minutes again. Maybe Coach Painter will make the change and start the more athletic Furst, or perhaps he likes the change-up from the bench with him.
