Yale is a quality win early in the season.
4 & 3
The combined total of points and rebounds between Will Berg, Raleigh Burgess, and Caleb Furst at the center position. This is a far cry from Zach Edey’s 24 and 12 every night for two seasons from the same position and even from Daniel Jacobsen’s 13 and 7 on opening night.
Coach Matt Painter has his work cut out for him. His best lineup down the stretch was Smith, Loyer, Colvin, Heide, and TKR (at center). Could this be a group of five that gets more of a run earlier in the game?
70%
Fletcher Loyer’s three-point percentage through the first three games of the season. The junior appears to have taken another step, again proving social media haters wrong. He, with Braden Smith, has the most game experience on the roster and will be leaned on heavily this season, which is evident three games in.
30
The total number of rebounds last night, tied with Yale. Of the 30 rebounds, 15 of them were from Braden Smith and Cam Heide. The center position doesn’t necessarily need to score with this current roster for Matt Painter, but the Boilers need more from the trio at center in terms of rebounding.
37
The total number of points, rebounds, and assists from Braden Smith, who has the weight of this team on his shoulders. When he is asked to score, he will have to score, which he did last night. On the season the Junior is averaging 11.5 PPG, 5 RPG, and 11 APG.
