Not a lot of optimism right now.
They say that the difference between hope and optimism is that with hope there’s a belief that your actions can make things better while optimism is just a general belief that things will work out for the best in the end regardless of what you do. Right now, I don’t think either hope or optimism reside in West Lafayette, Indiana or in the hearts and minds of the Purdue faithful all throughout this land of ours.
To check in on that I asked two questions this week. The first was about the firing of Graham Harrell. The results did not disappoint.
I hope to just live my life in a way that if/when I were to lose my job/be fire that 90% of people don’t think it was the right move/celebrate it. Now, to be clear, I’m not celebrating the man being without work, but I just think it was time for him to move on. The money he will receive is a nice balm for any emotional damage.
Next, what about hope that Purdue pulls the upset tomorrow?
Now this one I just can’t make sense of. Last week, when I asked the same question about Nebraska, only 8% of respondents thought Purdue would win, but now this week against a Wisconsin team that Purdue hasn’t taken down in over two decades the number goes UP? Sure it’s only 1% but I’m shocked.
So, did the majority get this one right?
