Lots to look at this week.
The weekly survey results are out and readers had three questions to look at this week, two related to Purdue basketball and one related to the upcoming CFP Championship game between two foes that Purdue is familiar with in Ohio State and Notre Dame. I’ll also be including the national results on that same question just to compare Purdue fans to the nation as a whole.
First though, let’s look at who you think will win the Big Ten.
Perhaps not surprising that 53% of respondents think that Purdue will ultimately win the conference. I mean this is a Purdue blog after all. Plus, Purdue has just one loss in conference play and a big test tomorrow. Michigan State with 27% is another not surprising result as they appear to be on solid footing as we near the halfway mark of Big Ten season. Illinois being ahead of Michigan didn’t shock me either as I think most people are weary of believing in Michigan at this point. Their loss to Minnesota yesterday certainly didn’t help them.
Next, with a two game West coast swing I wanted to know how confident you were in Purdue’s ability to beat not just Washington and Oregon but also the accompanying jet lag.
A pretty even split. The poll was posted on Tuesday and yet no one selected 0-2 so that’s good news (unless the results have been manipulated?). With one game to go in less than 24 hours we will soon see if the majority is right.
Now first, I want to see how Purdue fans view Monday’s CFP matchup.
A combined 82% of respondents thought that Ohio State would win while 46% felt that OSU would win and cover. That’s some confidence. Up next, let’s see how that compares to the national audience.
The national audience gave OSU wining a combined 65% compared with 35% for Notre Dame. A 17% differential between the national respondents and Purdue respondents. It seems that the Purdue hatred for Notre Dame might be bleeding through in these results a bit. What do you think?
