A great non-conference matchup is on the docket for today.
When you think of a top quality opponent in college basketball your mind inevitably goes to the state of Texas. Right? Yeah, mine either. And yet…Purdue will face off against a tough SEC opponent today in the Aggies from Texas A&M. They came in ranked 17th in the country with losses to UCF and Oregon. Not exactly who you expect them to be losing to but hey, it happens.
This one is part of the Indy Classic which replaced the Crossroads Classic, which replaced the Wooden Tradition and so on and so on down the line. Purdue always wants to play at least one game in Indianapolis. It’s great for exposure in the state’s biggest media market and you hope you can get some eyes from the local high school talent.
Who: #11 Purdue (8-2) vs. #17 Texas A&M (8-2)
When: Noon ET
Where: Indianapolis, Indiana – Gainbridge Fieldhouse (Capacity – 18,345)
TV: CBS (Rich Waltz, Bill Raftery, Jay Wright, Jon Rothstein)
Radio: Purdue Global Radio Network (Rob Blackman, Bobby Riddell)
With this one being a neutral site game it will mean a lot for Purdue’s end of year NCAA Tournament resume if they can win. Purdue will look to ride the momentum from the second half of the Maryland game, and the stress relief from finals being over, to carry them through another tough non-conference opponent.
