USC comes to Mackey for the first time.
Despite the fact that Mackey Arena has been open for nearly 60 years the USC Trojans have never played a game inside the best arena in college basketball. Until today. I have to assume that a major reason for USC joining the Big Ten was so that they could finally find a way to play a game inside of Mackey and see what everyone in the country already knows, Purdue has the best basketball fans around. Money might have been a factor too.
The 7th ranked Boilermakers, newly atop the Big Ten standings, return home to Mackey Arena today to take on the Trojans and grab their 11th conference win. With MSU losing their last two games, including most recently to this very USC team, the Boilermakers have a great opportunity to maintain their top spot. The remaining games at home become must wins for the Boilermakers given the daunting nature of the road schedule. That starts tonight against USC at 7:00 PM.
