Once more into the breach my friends.
After the thrilling, and sort of dominating, victory over the #2 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide, Purdue fans are riding a high. Surely, this game against Penn State will continue that same crest of joy and excitement and we will all be celebrating an epic victory over a top 10 opponent on Senior Day. Right? Right?!
Okay, the odds of that happening, according to people who make the odds, is very low. I hope that it happens but I personally would not put any money or any of my hope in it happening. It seems that, with very rare exceptions, Purdue football and Purdue men’s basketball cannot be good at the same time. The Athletic Department put all their experience points on the basketball side and prayed for a miracle on the football side and one has not occurred.

Purdue’s losing streak to Penn State is now 20+ years, yes I know they haven’t played every year, and that’s getting to Wisconsin levels of futility. Ryan Walters has said in recent days that as a head coach he needs to get away from calling the Xs and Os and focus on being a head coach and letting his guys coach. Does that happen today? We will see.
