One of the Boilermakers most impactful transfers ever will continue his basketball playing career.
When the NBA Draft came and went without Lance Jones’ name being called I’m sure he was disappointed. It was always a long shot that he was going to hear his name on draft night, but given the impressive senior season he had during his one year at Purdue there was always a chance. Lance Jones did get an opportunity with the Indiana Pacers summer league team but I think most people understood that this was part of what the Pacers seem to do by signing local talent to their summer league to give them a chance. While he acquitted himself well given the circumstances, there was very little chance that he was going to earn a roster spot with the Indiana Pacers.
It was long believed that if Jones wanted to continue his basketball playing career he would have to consider either the G-League (or whatever they are calling it now) or head overseas. Well, it was announced yesterday that Jones signed a contract with CB Tizona. Who is CB Tizona you might be asking yourself? Well, according to my research (meaning some WIkipedia reading and some googling) I’ve discovered they are a team based in Burgos, Castilla y Leon which is an autonomous region of Spain. They play in the Primera FEB which is the second basketball division in Spain. This division has apparently had a number of names over the years so if you’ve been really into Spanish basketball you might know it as LEB or LEB Oro. The FEB, for this curious is the Spanish Federation of Basketball. Their version of the NBA.
