The Purdue football family is mourning the loss of legendary tight end Dave Young.

Young caught 70 passes for 959 yards and nine touchdowns in his final season at Purdue, earning All-Big Ten honors to go along with his All-American recognition.
For his career, he hauled in 180 receptions for 2,316 yards and 27 touchdowns, helping the Boilermakers go 28-7-1 with three straight bowl appearances from 1978-80.
An Akron, Ohio native, Young was a second-round pick of the New York Giants in 1981. He played three seasons in the NFL with the Giants and Colts, finishing his career with 19 receptions for 213 yards and three touchdowns.
