The 6’3 shooting guard jumps on board as the 163rd rated prospect according to 247 Sports
Following their National Title Game appearance in the 2024 NCAA Tourney, the Purdue Boilermakers and Head Coach Matt Painter grabbed a commitment for their 2025 class. Shooting guard Antione West out of Toledo Whitmer (Ohio) chose the Boilers over Arizona State, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State, and Xavier (among others). The 6’3 and 175lb shooter was targeted by the Boilers with an offer in May and an official visit in September after averaging 20.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists during his junior season.
Purdue stands to only lose senior Caleb Furst from their 2024-2025 roster and Purdue seemed to be looking at front court players at the center and power forward position, but the NCAA adjustment in scholarship numbers allowed Purdue to expand their focus. West will join a crowded backcourt with Braden Smith, Fletcher Loyer, Myles Colvin, Jack Benter, CJ Cox, and GiCarri Harris.
It stands to reason that West may take a redshirt when he joins the Boilers as a freshman as that has been a very popular route for similar players at Purdue in similar years. West appears to be a combo guard who is able to handle the ball at the point while also able to play off the ball as a shooter.
NEWS: 2025 4⭐️ Antione West has committed to Purdue, he told @LeagueRDY.
West is an athletic, versatile guard who can score it, make plays and rebound his position. A strong on-ball defender and high-level two-way player.

Joe Tipton from On3.com spoke to West following his commitment to the Boilers. Here is what was said:
Antione West discussed his decision with On3.
“I chose Purdue because to me it just felt most like home when I was there. Not only was it a school I always wanted to go to growing up, but they expressed the same interest I had towards them with me. My skill set and size is a good fit and I can really help them moving forward.”
What led to his trust in coach Painter and the coaching staff?
“What really got me to trust them was definitely their honesty and how down-to-earth they were. I’ve had a lot of long conversations with multiple people on their staff including coach Painter and over time that consistency since my sophomore year really builds trust.”
In his own words, what type of player is Purdue getting in Antione West?
“I’d describe my game as a versatile lead guard. I can score with and without the ball, I can create for my teammates. I have good size to be able to defend multiple positions, and rebound to push breaks. I don’t think there is too many things I can’t do on the court and I’m only going to get better.”
