A former 4-star that led a comeback victory against Tennessee in 2024 will make his way to West Lafayette.
Barry Odom received his first of many portal commitments in the coming days. It is fitting that his first portal commitment comes from the most important position on the field, Quarterback.
Malachi Singleton will make his way north, after serving as a back-up at Arkansas as a Redshirt Freshman.

The former four-star prospect and Elite 11 member of the 2023 class will have three years remaining of eligibility. Out of High School, he chose Arkansas over the likes of Georgia, The U, Georgia Tech, and Louisville.
He joins a skeleton crew at the quarterback position, He is just the third scholarship quarterback on the roster, all of which are pretty inexperienced, joining Bennett Meredith (JR) and Garyt Odom (FR).
I would love to see another quarterback come to Purdue from the portal to add depth to the position, especially after losing Ryan Browne to UNC yesterday and it looking likely to lose Marcos Davila to Nebraska in the portal.
Regardless, it will be tough for anyone to beat out Singleton, who has clearly been tabbed as the new staff’s quarterback. The 6-1, 225-pound dual threat will provide wrinkles to the Purdue Offense that we have not seen.
During the 2024 season, he led a comeback win against Tennessee, so he is already a step in the right direction with the rest of Purdue Athletics and the ownership of the Volunteers.
He also played in the 2nd half against Ole Miss, showing great touch and running ability.
On the season, he was 21 of 28 for 358 and a touchdown, while having 17 carries for 74 yards and three touchdowns as well.
Adding Singleton was a great start to the portal for Coach Odom, now we wait for this weekend when there could be a handful or more commitments to Purdue.
