Head Coach Ryan Walters along with _______ give their thoughts following the Boilers loss to the Ducks
Following a 35-0 loss to the Oregon Ducks, Head Coach Ryan Walters and players Ryan Browne, Kyndrich Breedlove, Reggie Love, and Hudson Miller spoke to the media in the post game presser. Ryan Walters showed some sense of frustration with the Boilers lack of ability to convert third down opportunities and play penalty free football. This was another game in which Purdue struggled in those regards converting just 4-12 third downs and six penalties for 40 yards. It is evident Purdue isn’t a good enough football team to overcome the mountain of mistakes that they seem to be presenting for themselves.
The expansion of the B1G, an expanded College Football Playoff, and the ability to flip a roster through the transfer portal has likely shortened the leash for head coaches at major programs. When you combine the success that IU is showing with what appears to be a very realistic opportunity to make the first expanded CFP for the Hoosiers, Walters may have run out of leash in year two.
The head coach appeared to let his frustrations bubble a bit to the surface near the end of his time with the media after not understanding a question and reiterating his point about maintaining the process for a bye week that they have established. It was just apparent that Walters is frustrated with losing but is likely feeling the very real heat under his seat.
