Things are bleak here.
Purdue heads into Bloomington for the final game of the season tomorrow. I asked the staff for their predictions for the final time.
Ledman (9-2):
I feel like Frodo when he is inside Mt. Doom:
This has been an incredible slog for the Boilermakers and their fans this season. After the Indiana State victory it was just one hard game after another. There were two OT losses, there were multiple shutouts, there were just complete beat downs. It was tough.
Now, Purdue faces IU in what is their best season in history. If Purdue could find a way to win it would be the best way to end the season as the loss would likely send IU out of the CFP and man that would be sweet. But, it’s awful that this is what it has come to. Purdue is playing for nothing other than trying to ruin someone else’s dream season. Things have to change and they should change (IMO) on Sunday with an announcement from the AD.
Purdue is outmanned in this one and I don’t expect them to find a way to pull it out. The Purdue offense always looks like it’s playing in mud and the defense just cannot consistently stop anyone.
Purdue 7
IU 42
Ryan (10-1):
Purdue looks like they are going to lose to the losing-est team in FBS history. That’s a shame.
Purdue 13
IU 56
Drew (Not great Bob):
I’m probably more optimistic than most. I think Purdue, at worst, should be able to put up a fight. I don’t think it will be enough because Indiana does the little things better than Purdue, and this very well could end in an epic ass kicking, but here’s hoping Purdue makes them work for it.
Indiana: 34
Purdue: 17
Jed (11-0):
Mercifully this season is finally almost over. What started with lots of promises and expectations of a better second season under Ryan Walters quickly devolved into being the butt of nearly every joke over the last 10 weeks. From the drubbing against Notre Dame following a bye week, getting 52 hung on them by a 5-6 (looking like a 5-7) Wisconsin team, getting beat at home by Northwestern, and then having national media poking fun at your ineptitude as a program. Unfortunately, Purdue’s season won’t end mercifully as they will likely face the best IU football team that program has ever had and one that will likely be playing for a spot in the Collefe Football Playoff.
Over Thanksgiving, Purdue lost two of their best committed players while also seemingly starting the portal jumping former four star tight end Tayvion Galloway announcing his intent to leave the program. It just isn’t going right and I doubt it does against a motivated IU team.
This one isn’t likely to be pretty and is likely to be over before the middle half of the second quarter. Let’s all see what news breaks on Sunday afternoon.
Indiana: 56
Purdue: 14
