A new QB coach is headed to West Lafayette for his first experience in the B1G after stops in the SEC, ACC, and Big 12
Head Coach Barry Odom and the Purdue Boilermakers announced Darin Hinshaw as the new quarterbacks coach. Hinshaw, a UCF grad (1995) has had coaching stints at UCF (1999-2000, 2021, 2023-2024), MTSU (2003-2005), Georgia Southern (2006), Memphis (2007-2009), Tennessee (2010-2012), Cincinnati (2013-2015), Kentucky (2016-2020), and UAB (2022). Hinshaw will replace former OC and QB coach Graham Harrell who was fired midway through the 2024 season.
This is an important announcement as Odom and Hinshaw will likely meet with Ryan Browne who entered the portal shortly after it was announced that Ryan Walters would not be returning in 2025. Hinshaw has a long list of NFL talent he has recruited and coaches in his career but may be best known for coaching former receiver and kick returner Lynn Bowden to play quarterback in the 2019 season. In that season, Bowden was named the Manning QB of the Week and won the Paul Hornung Award (awarded the the most versatile player in college football).
26 years of experience, including 12 as an OC. He’ll coach our QBs.

Hinshaw will likely help new offensive coordinator Josh Henson and provides Purdue a vastly different look on the offensive side of the ball with two very veteran coaches. Hinshaw is already at the team performance center with Odom and other staff members.
