It wasn’t the end of the season that anyone in West Lafayette was hoping for but Purdue men’s basketball still wanted to thank the fans that took this year’s journey with them.
Taking to social media following Monday night’s national title loss, the school had a message for BoilerNation. Saying this year is one that will “never be forgotten.”
As the sun comes up and @BoilerBall begins our travel home, we want to thank each and every fan who supported us this season. It was a magical ride and you were with us every step of the way. You all gave us sellouts in Mackey, three big wins in Indy, a takeover on the road in the B1G, a deafening arena in Detroit and perhaps most impressive of all — you took over Phoenix. It was an amazing journey that you joined us for. Let’s plan on getting together again this fall and doing things like this more often.
Purdue fell to the defending champion UConn Huskies 75-60 despite 37 points and 10 rebounds from All-American Zach Edey.
Nevertheless it was still a tremendous season for Matt Painter and the Boilermakers who went further in the tournament than most thought they could despite being a No. 1 seed.
For now though, this one will hurt.
