A 1-1 week sees the Boilers fall 7 spots.
I’ll caveat this with the fact that I know many of you don’t care about the AP Poll this early in the season. I get that, but for me it’s advertising, it’s marketing, it’s a recruiting tool. After the victory over Alabama, Purdue rose to 6th in the poll. Then, they went to Marquette and suffered their first non-conference loss since the year 2000. They rebounded with a win against Marshall.

Purdue fell to 13th in the country in the latest AP poll. That is a 7 spot drop from last week. This early in the year it’s not unusual to see big swings like this as the voters try and determine who is any good, and where they fit in the national scene.
Purdue being in the top 15 is still a big deal considering what they lost after last year. It’s a big accomplishment and a testament to the program that Matt Painter has built. Purdue now heads to San Diego for a test against fellow 2024 Final Four team NC State.
