Well, that went about as we expected.
Ledman:
We knew that Purdue was going to struggle to keep up with a Penn State team that has a talented group on offense and a defense that you could stack up against almost anyone in the country we were proven right as Purdue fell behind 42-3 near the end of the third quarter. It was not a fun watch.
At this point I’m not sure we are learning anything new about this football tea. Are we learning about Ryan Walters though? I would argue that yes we are and none of it is good. He talked recently about wanting to be more hands off as a coach and allow his coaches to coach. Did that work today? Certainly not. There are just two games left in this season before we can, mercifully, move on to focus fully on Purdue basketball.
Jed:
Typing this before kickoff to see how accurate it is.
As was expected, Purdue got down multiple scores in the first quarter and it seemed as though Penn State put it on cruise control the rest of the game. It was seemingly a copy and paste from the Oregon and Ohio State game. Purdue is just utterly non-competitive in games against any one with a pulse this season and with a Michigan State team that is battling for a bowl game and Indiana that is looking at a CFP berth, the next two games don’t appear like they will be much better.
With Bobinski’s contract not up until this summer and a replacement for himnot named, it is unlikely they make a move on the head coach. Just like what happened when Bobinski came in to the Hazell disaster, it appears that is what Bobinski will leave his successor.
Ryan:
Thank goodness for Purdue basketball and volleyball. At this point, the football team’s mediocrity does not surprise me at all. When you have to force yourself to be happy because at least Purdue scored, the whole thing needs to be blown up. Too bad some people seem to care more about money than what’s best in the long run.
