Purdue tabs a veteran Head Coach as the next man to lead the program.
Well, we have been waiting for leaks all weekend, and finally it has happened.
Reports are surfacing that Purdue has tabbed Barry Odom as the leader of their football program.
Ross Dellenger was the first to release the information.
Purdue is targeting UNLV’s Barry Odom to be its next head coach, sources tell @YahooSports. The deal is not finalized, but the sides are working towards an agreement.
Odom went 19-8 in two seasons in Las Vegas and was 25-25 at Missouri before that.

Odom at UNLV this season won 10 games, this was the first time in forty years that the team had won 10 games or more. Last season, he won nine games and took UNLV to their first bowl game in a decade, revitalizing a dormant program.
Many will point to his 500 record at Missouri in the SEC, but many coaches leave the SEC far below that record, as it is considered to be the toughest conference to win games in.
This past season, Odom’s Offense, led by standout offensive coordinator Brennan Marion, averaged 36 points per game, last season they averaged 34 points per game, a welcomed site to Purdue that has struggled on offense mightily.
Odom has a defensive background, but with the staff he may bring with him on offense, Purdue fans should not be worried about that.
Welcome to West Lafayette, Coach!
EDITOR’S NOTE: I wanted to at least give a shout out to Twitter user @imatrustpainter who said Purdue would hire Odom in a 12/7/24 tweet at 8:28 AM. Did he have good info or just a guess? I honestly don’t know, but credit where it’s due.
BREAKING : Purdue has hired former UNLV head coach Barry Odom to be the universities 38th head football coach. Odom led the Rebels to a 10-3 record this season, boasting a talented offense.
