There was a change at the top of the rankings.
Happy Monday everyone! Hope you enjoyed the weekend. The season is rolling along and we are through week 3 already. The votes are in for this week’s Top Ten rankings and Player of the Week. Georgia came into the weekend as a near unanimous #1 spot, but they barely escaped their matchup with Kentucky. Texas and Alabama blew out their opponents and Ohio State had an early bye week. Let’s see if the results shook up the rankings.
10. Oregon (19 points)
9. USC (25 points)
8. Miami (28 points)
7. Missouri (32 points)
6. Tennessee (43 points)
5. Ole Miss (55 points)
4. Alabama (75 points)
3. Georgia (79 points)
2. Ohio State (88 points)
1. Texas (103 points)
There you have it. In a week where their starting quarterback left the game in the second quarter with an injury, the Longhorns plugged in Arch Manning and took over the top of the rankings.
It should come as no surprise, then, that our panel also voted Arch as this week’s Player of the Week. The 3rd generation of the Manning family legacy saw his second action of the season, but his first significant playing time. His final stats were 9 of 12 passing, 223 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INTs, 53 rushing yards, and 1 rushing TD. Remember folks, that was in about 2 1⁄2 quarters of play. Congrats, Mr. Manning.
This week’s honorable mentions are Cam Ward – QB, Miami; Travis Hunter – WR/CB, Colorado; and Kurtis Rourke – QB, Indiana.
