Two Indianapolis Colts players made Pro Football Focus’ list of the top 101 players from the 2024 NFL season.
Mason Cameron recently put this list together and below are the criteria that were considered:
– The list only takes into account what happened in 2024.
– “All positions are created equal.” PFF would instead look at how the players performed relative to their position group.
– And lastly, postseason performances were a part of the equation.
The two Colts players that made these rankings were Bernhard Raimann at No. 88 and DeForest Buckner at No. 92.
Raimann would play in 14 games last season and continued to build upon what was a strong 2023 performance. According to PFF’s grading system–which was a key part of this evaluation–Raimann ranked 12th among all tackles in pass-blocking grade and 12th in run-blocking grade.
The combination of Raimann and Quenton Nelson on the left side of the Colts offensive line formed a very formidable duo, with Jonathan Taylor averaging 4.8 yards per carry when running between those two.
Buckner, meanwhile, also missed some time with an injury early in the year, but was, as always, very effective when on the field. He ranked ninth in pass-rush win rate among defensive tackles and was also ninth in run-stop rate.
Buckner’s impact also goes beyond his own column in the stat sheet, his presence makes those around him better with the attention he draws, helping to create for others.
Three other players who didn’t make the list but perhaps could have been in consideration were Zaire Franklin, who was a second-team All-Pro and Pro Bowler, along with Quenton Nelson and Jonathan Taylor, both of whom were Pro Bowlers.
