It was expected news, but the Indianapolis Colts announced on Monday evening that they had parted ways with defensive coordinator Gus Bradley.
“I’m appreciative of Gus and the commitment he made to the Colts,” wrote Shane Steichen. “He is a man of great character, and I have the utmost respect for him. I felt like we needed to move in a different direction. I wish Gus and his family all the best moving forward.”
The reasons behind this decision are well documented at this point, with the Colts defense ranking in the bottom-third of the NFL in scoring during all three years while Bradley was in charge of the defensive side of the ball in Indianapolis.
Now, the search will begin for a new defensive coordinator to fill that role. With Shane Steichen inheriting Bradley when he took over as head coach, this will be his first time making such a hire.
With help from The Athletic, let’s take an early look at who some potential candidates for the Indianapolis Colts could be.
