Another mock draft, another opportunity for the Colts to be projected to land the top tight end in this year’s draft class.
According to ESPN’s Field Yates (subscription), the Indianapolis Colts will select prized Penn State Tyler Warren with the 14th overall pick in his latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft:
14. Indianapolis Colts
Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State
This would qualify as a “sprint the card to the podium” pick if the order falls this way. Warren — my ninth-ranked prospect — would be a great value for a Colts team desperate for an X factor at tight end. He can make some incredibly difficult catches and is one of the most dangerous run-after-catch players in this class. He blends power and fearlessness to break tackles at will, forcing 21 missed tackles on catches this past season. Warren could be instrumental in boosting Anthony Richardson and the entire Indianapolis passing game.
Warren has been a popular projection for the Colts near midway though the first round among recent mainstream mock drafts—as the consensus top tight end in this year’s class.
During a monstrous senior season for the Nittany Lions, the listed 6’6,” 261 pound tight end recorded 104 receptions for 1,233 receiving yards (11.9 ypr. avg.) and 8 touchdown receptions in 16 starts—earning the John Mackey Award, as well as First-Team All-American, Big Ten Tight of the Year, and First-Team All-Big Ten honors in 2024 respectively.
The Colts got ‘next-to-nothing’ from a receiving perspective last season from the tight end position, and both veteran Mo Alie-Cox and Kylen Granson are set to become free agents.
Warren is considered a generational tight end prospect, and one of the most well-rounded players to come out at his position in recent memory—with his ability to both catch and block at a very high level, which should definitely translate well to the next level.
The success of the Colts’ 2025 season will likely rest on the continued growth and development of soon-to-be 3rd-year quarterback Anthony Richardson, so why not surround him with a dynamic playmaker over the middle of the field at a position that’s sorely need it?
One of the things we do in the pre-draft cycle is start to overthink players. We overanalyze things that don’t matter as much as the tape and the player.
Don’t waste any time with that on Tyler Warren: this guy is a flat out baller with elite tape from 2024. https://t.co/vLC0nLW0He
