C.J. Stroud’s rookie season is already placing itself among the best that we’ve seen at the quarterback position.
Through nine games, Stroud has thrown for 2,625 yards and 15 touchdowns to just two interceptions as the Houston Texans sit at 5-4 and right in the thick of the AFC South race.
That yardage total would put him on pace for 4,958 passing yards which would shatter the record previously held by Andrew Luck who tossed for 4,374 yards in a 16-game season back in 2016.
If Stroud is able to keep this up, he would have the record in 15 games, besting Luck without the benefit of the NFL’s new schedule.
Justin Herbert currently holds the league’s rookie record for passing touchdowns with 31. And while Stroud is a tick below that, it’s not out of the realm that he could make a run at that mark as well.
The No. 2 pick’s play has not only placed himself in the lead for Offensive Rookie of the Year, but as the Texans’ record continues to improve the former Ohio State star is inching into MVP conversations.
