There have been a lot of highs and lows for the Indianapolis Colts this season and Jonathan Taylor’s availability (or lack thereof) has certainly been one of the low points.
Ahead of Sunday’s big game against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Colts have announced Taylor’s status. He has been ruled out with a thumb injury that has kept him out of practice this week.
It’s the same injury that the Colts running back was unable to play through against the Tennessee Titans this past week. Fortunately, the Colts were able to eke out an overtime win with Zack Moss serving as their leading rusher.
Taylor is having a rough season, averaging a career-low 59 yards per game and just 4.1 yards per carry. He’s on pace for his first season under 1,000 yards from scrimmage.
It’s definitely a good thing that Jonathan Taylor was able to get that big time contract extension with the Colts during the season. If he had been playing like this all season, he might have never gotten his money.
Hopefully he can get his feet under him in time for late-December and early-January because the Colts are in the midst of a playoff push.
Will Taylor improve over the final few weeks?
