Colts assistant general manager Ed Dodds continues to be highly regarded among league circles for potential and prospective NFL GM openings.
According to SI.com’s Albert Breer, Indianapolis Colts assistant general manager Ed Dodds has been named among his ‘hot names’ to watch for future NFL general manager openings for both 2025 and beyond:
Colts assistant GM Ed Dodds: Dodds has long been one of the NFL’s most respected evaluators, as an integral part of the Seahawks’ Legion of Boom build, and Indy GM Chris Ballard’s right-hand man over the last seven years. He was a finalist for the Panthers job last year and also interviewed for openings with the Chargers and Raiders. Indy’s uneven 2024 could stall his candidacy a bit. But teams that are looking to put a scout’s scout into the GM chair will be attracted to this football lifer.
Although it’s a fair question of whether Dodds will return—along with the entire Colts front office right now, he has consistently been a name to watch as Ballard’s ‘right hand man’—having had interviews with the Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders, Detroit Lions, Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, and Pittsburgh Steelers in recent memory for their prior general manager vacancies respectively.
Joining the recently hired Chris Ballard, Dodds was originally hired by the Colts as their vice president of player personnel in 2017, having previously served as a scout and senior personnel executive for the Seattle Seahawks before joining Indianapolis. He was promoted from Colts’ vice president of player personnel to assistant general manager during 2018.
Dodds began his career as a scouting intern for the Oakland Raiders in 2003.
