The Indianapolis Colts are elevating guard Mark Glowinski and cornerback Tre Flowers from the practice squad for Sunday’s Week 16 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.
Each week, teams are permitted to elevate up to two players from the practice squad to the gameday roster. Typically, players are elevated at positions where the team is dealing with injuries. Each player can be elevated up to three times during the season.
For Glowinski, this is his third and final elevation, so for Weeks 17 and 18 if he is going to be available on Sundays, he will have to be added to the 53-man roster. This is Flowers’ first elevation this season.
With rookie Dalton Tucker struggling at right guard, Glowinski took over that starting role two games ago in New England. He’s provided a boost in the run game but has struggled in pass protection, surrendering one sack and 10 pressures over the last two games.
The elevation of Flowers is interesting because none of the Colts’ cornerbacks who are on the active roster are on the injury report.
Flowers does bring experience, however, appearing in 94 regular season games in his career. Most recently, he played 200 snaps in 2023 with Atlanta, allowing 10 receptions on 14 targets at 17.7 yards per catch with a pass breakup.
I would guess that Flowers’ role on Sunday will come as depth on special teams, where the Colts could be a bit shorthanded if Ashton Dulin, who is questionable, isn’t able to go.
