INDIANAPOLIS — The renovation of the Indianapolis Colts’ defensive staff is complete.
The makeover began in early January when Gus Bradley was not retained as coordinator after three seasons and was replaced by Lou Anarumo, who held a similar position with the Cincinnati Bengals since 2019.
Several of the new additions already had been reported, but a new face is Jerome Henderson, who will oversee the defensive backs.
Henderson brings 20 years of NFL coaching experience to the Colts, including the past five seasons with the New York Giants. He held the role of defensive backs/passing game coordinator in 2024 after serving as the Giants’ defensive backs coach the previous four seasons.
Henderson also had coaching stints with the Atlanta Falcons, Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns and New York Jets.
His coaching career followed an extensive playing career as a cornerback and safety with New England, Buffalo, Philadelphia and the Jets. Henderson was a 1991 second-round pick of the Patriots who appeared in 98 regular-season games with 34 starts in nine seasons. He played in the Patriots’ loss to Green Bay in Super Bowl XXXI and was with the Buffalo Bills in their loss to Dallas in Super Bowl XXVIII.
