INDIANAPOLIS – Three Indianapolis Colts players have been named to the Pro Bowl Games.
Linebacker Zaire Franklin, guard Quenton Nelson and running back Jonathan Taylor made the AFC squad.
This marks the first Pro Bowl selection for Franklin, who currently leads the NFL in tackles with 165. He’s started all 16 games for the Colts this season, compiling 10 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, two interceptions, four forced fumbles and five passes defensed.
Nelson’s selection is his seventh—he’s made the Pro Bowl every season he’s been in the league. He’s the first Colts lineman to make the Pro Bowl in each of his first seven career seasons. Leaguewide, only Hall of Famers Joe Thomas and Richmond Webb have accomplished the feat.
The last Colts player named to seven straight Pro Bowls? Peyton Manning (2004-2010).
Taylor made the Pro Bowl for the second time in his career. In 13 games, he’s carried 269 times for 1,254 yards (4.7 avg.) and 10 touchdowns. He’s added 17 catches for 133 and a score.
Peyton and Eli Manning will serve as coaches for the event, with Peyton leading the AFC team and Eli directing the NFC team. The Pro Bowl Games are scheduled for Feb. 2 in Orlando.
