The Indianapolis Colts signed Laquon Treadwell on Wednesday.
To make room for Treadwell, the Colts waived fellow wide receiver Xavier White. Indianapolis could become the sixth different team Treadwell plays for in as many seasons.
The Minnesota Vikings selected Treadwell with the No. 23 pick of the 2016 NFL Draft. He caught just one pass for 15 yards as a rookie and recorded 701 yards and two touchdowns over four seasons.
Treadwell has since bounced around the league in hopes of finding a long-term home. In 2020, he scored touchdowns on two of his seven targets with the Atlanta Falcons.
Treadwell tallied most of his career-high 434 receiving yards late in the 2021 season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who nevertheless released him the following summer. He signed with the New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals in 2022 but never saw the field for either team before closing the season on the Seattle Seahawks.
Although he played five games for the Baltimore Ravens last season, Treadwell didn’t receive any targets until securing a 16-yard grab in a Week 18 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Baltimore cut the 6-foot-2 wideout before the postseason.
Treadwell will try to break camp with the Colts, who ranked 20th in passing offense last season. Michael Pittman Jr., Josh Downs, and Alec Pierce return to lead a young receiving room that will work with a returning Anthony Richardson in 2024.
Indianapolis cleared a roster spot by releasing White, an undrafted free agent who accrued 1,524 receiving yards in five seasons at Texas Tech.
