Colts-Jaguars opening odds: Still have to play the game

Draft positioning is on the line in this one

The Indianapolis Colts have one final game yet to play in the 2024 season. The finale finds them pitted against the Jacksonville Jaguars from Lucas Oil. A new year will bring fans looking forward to a new season as neither team is going anywhere with the Colts having just been eliminated from postseason contention. FanDuel Sportsbook is giving the Colts the advantage with a 5.5-point spread edge. It is unknown who the quarterback will be in this one, so the odds could shift slightly depending.

The money line sits at -250 while the over/under is at 44.5.

The Colts completely flamed out against the Giants on the road. What should have been a layup was completely botched. Every time they clawed their way back into the game, the defense would surrender another touchdown drive. A nearly perfect Drew Lock and a kickoff returned for a touchdown was too much to overcome. Both fan bases were equally disgusted as the Colts missed out on the playoffs, and the Giants forfeited the number one overall pick. I would venture that while the loss was embarrassing for the Colts, it was more infuriating for the Giants to potentially fall in the draft order. Neither team will be going into the new year happy.

The Jaguars won what was a snooze-fest against the Titans. The game was ok, but the two teams are terrible. There was actually something on the line, however, as both teams are jockeying for draft positioning. Mac Jones was solid for the Jaguars as they built a 13-0 lead. The Titans got within three, but no closer as the Jaguars won 20-13. The Jaguars won’t want to put together too much of a winning streak, but against the Colts, they might just have a chance.

It would be nice if we could give the “intentional walk” signal on this game and just skip it. Unfortunately, that is not an option, so both teams will play the game. If Anthony Richardson plays, there may be a reason to watch. If he is still too sore, most fans will be opting to watch from home if they watch at all. Happy New Year, and we will see you with opening odds in 2025.
