On Monday, following the Indianapolis Colts’ Week 16 win over the Tennessee Titans, the team announced that they’ve placed cornerback Tre Flowers on the practice squad injured list.
Flowers was elevated from the practice squad to the gameday roster. Unfortunately, he would exit the game late in the first half with a shoulder injury and did not return.
Flowers had played five snaps on special teams before leaving the game.
He spent the first portion of the 2024 season with Jacksonville, which included appearing in three regular-season games early on. After being released, Flowers caught on with the Colts’ practice squad and has spent the majority of this season with the team in that capacity.
A former fifth-round pick in 2018, Flowers is an experienced NFL player, appearing in 94 regular season games in his career. On special teams, Flowers had played 1,250 snaps in his seven career before Sunday’s game.
For his career defensively, Flowers has allowed a completion rate of 68.1% at 13.0 yards per catch with four interceptions and 16 pass breakups.
In addition to Flowers exiting the game, Jaylon Jones would exit the game late as well with a throat injury. David Long Jr. took over for him opposite of Samuel Womack. The boundary cornerback position is not a group where the Colts have a lot of depth.
With Flowers on the practice squad injured list, the Colts now have an opening on the practice squad roster.
