The Indianapolis Colts (4-6) travel to the New York Jets (3-7), hoping to shake off any lag and keep their playoff hopes airborne. It’s a game that the Colts really need, considering they’ve now lost three in a row and host the NFC leading Detroit Lions (8-1) next week.
The Colts are currently on the outside, looking in, as the AFC’s #8 seed, but remain in the thick of things in the midst of the playoff hunt—with a solid stretch of football still left.
Of course, the big news on Wednesday was that 2nd-year quarterback Anthony Richardson has been reinserted into the starting lineup—after a two week benching because of a “learning lesson” regarding his lack of preparation and attention-to-detail as ‘QB1.’
The 22-year-old quarterback will be squaring off against 40-year-old Jets veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, meaning there’s quite the age gap. Rodgers has recently been reunited with his favorite target with the Green Bay Packers, Davante Adams, so the Jets are a little scarier than they’ve been offensively to begin 2024. Still, they have yet to galvanize under new interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich, so this is a winnable road game for Indianapolis.
