How are you feeling Colts fans as this disappointing 2024 season finally reaches its closure?
The Indianapolis Colts’ disappointing 2024 campaign will be finally put to rest after Sunday’s regular season finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars—and the playoffs completely out of the picture.
If you’re a Colts fan, the confidence in the direction of the franchise has hit essentially rock bottom, as only 4% of the Horseshoe Faithful believe that the team is headed in the right direction—which is down from the already pretty low 24% entering last weekend.
It’s hard to blame the surveyed Colts fans either, as Indianapolis suffered another embarrassing late season loss, which ended their playoff hopes for good to the then 2-13 New York Giants last weekend on the road in the Big Apple.
It wasn’t a last second loss either, as the Colts soundly lost by double-digits and were thoroughly outplayed from a fundamentals, hustle, and execution standpoint.
I hate to beat a dead horse here (which are this year’s Colts!), but the Horseshoe Faithful are clearly restless right now as the current status quo at W. 56th street has gotten stale—and simply hasn’t worked out. Expecting dissimilar results with the same approach seems futile.
The team hasn’t made the playoffs since 2020 and have yet to win a division title since 2014, whereas every other rival in the AFC South has done it at least twice since then. The franchise has just two playoff appearances and one sole playoff win over the past decade.
Not only is the talent of the roster simply not good enough to consistently win against the NFL’s better competition, but the Colts appear to have a leadership, culture, and accountability issue within their own locker room and team headquarters.
From top-to-bottom, this organization needs to do a lot of soul-searching this offseason and figure out who they want to strive to be going forward—whereas meaningful moves are arguably needed to bring some fresh perspective, energy, and roster-building philosophies.
