How are the Horseshoe Faithful really feeling ahead of Week 3?
The Indianapolis Colts (0-2) (-1.5) host the Chicago Bears (1-1) for what appears to be as close to a ‘must-win’ game as you can reasonably get this early in the regular season.
After losing to a ‘Love-less’ Green Bay Packers last week in rather underwhelming fashion, Colts fans appear finally shook.
Specifically, their collective confidence that the franchise is headed in the right direction dipped from 77% to a lowly 19% after the team has dropped to a surprising 0-2 early on:
That newfound pessimism has carried over to Week 3, as only 41% of Colts fans believe that the team will beat rookie #1 overall pick Caleb Williams at home this week—which is a far cry from the 50%+ that you’d ordinarily expect that percentage to be at defending Lucas Oil:
The most popular scapegoat for the Colts’ lack of early season success is longtime general manager Chris Ballard at nearly 40% of the total pollsters.
While I expected embattled Colts defensive coordinator Gus Bradley to have the most fingers pointed on him right now given the team’s historically woeful run defense, it appears that the Horseshoe Faithful are thinking bigger picture and pointing to the lack of elite talent and personnel depth (and dare I say, help, surrounding Anthony Richardson):
It’ll be interesting to see if the Colts play spirited football for 4 quarters and get their 1st win of the regular season (as taking some pride in their run defense again would assuredly help!).
