The Indianapolis Colts (0-2) (-1.5) look to get their first win of the 2024 regular season, hosting the Chicago Bears (1-1).
It will be a battle of two talented young starting quarterbacks, as dynamic Colts 2nd-year starter Anthony Richardson will matchup against 2024 NFL Draft #1 overall pick, rookie Caleb Williams.
It’s also a homecoming of sorts for former Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, who’s currently beginning his 3rd-year as the head coach of the Bears.
Of course, the Colts defense has seen better days, having allowed a league worst 237.0 total rushing yards per game, as well as the 2nd most total yards per game at 426.0 respectively. Having faced back-to-back former Pro Bowl veteran running backs, the Colts run defense will be facing another ex-Pro Bowler, D’Andre Swift. In the passing game, the Colts will have to defend not only Williams, but D.J. Moore and Rome Odunze at wideout.
Offensively, the Colts will look to get back on track in the passing game. Star workhorse Jonathan Taylor rushed for over 100 yards last week, but the passing game never really seemed to get in a consistent rhythm—as Richardson showed some growing pains (with three interceptions, although to be fair, one was a last second hail mary attempt). He also didn’t get much help from his wideouts aside from 3rd-year pro Alec Pierce—as the group collectively dropped way too many passes. Right now, the Colts need to collectively provide Richardson more team support, as he’s too young and inexperienced to carry them.
