The Indianapolis Colts lost a safety during practice last week.
Safety Daniel Scott tore his Achilles during a practice session last week and will likely have to miss his second straight season. He also didn’t play at all during the 2023 season after tearing his ACL.
“To have that happen to him again, it’s a tough break,” head coach Shane Steichen said, (first transcribed by ProFootballTalk).
Scott is a former 2023 fifth-round pick but hasn’t been able to showcase his skills in the NFL yet because of two brutal injuries.
Before he was drafted, he spent five seasons at California (2018-22) and finished his senior season with 85 total tackles, four passes defended, three interceptions, and two forced fumbles.
His 2021 season was also great when he compiled 82 total tackles, three interceptions, two passes defended, a sack, and a forced fumble.
Hopefully, he’ll be able to get on the field for next season once he’s back to full health.
The Colts finished the 2023 season with a 9-8 record and barely missed the playoffs.
