The Buffalo Bills will be without two of their top receiving options on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.
After ruling out Keon Coleman on Friday, Amari Cooper, who was listed as questionable with a wrist injury, will not suit up today either, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Coleman, the 33rd overall pick in this past April’s draft, is second on the team in receiving yards and has been a big play threat for the Bills, averaging a hefty 19.0 yards per catch as one of the best receivers in football at picking up YAC.
Cooper, meanwhile, was acquired by the Bills via trade from Cleveland a few weeks back. In two games with Buffalo, Cooper has caught five passes for 69 yards and a touchdown. In five of the last six seasons, Cooper has surpassed the 1,100-yard mark.
While those are two big playmaking threats that the Bills will be without, this is still a dangerous offense that is one of the best at putting up points with Josh Allen at quarterback.
Khalil Shakir, who spends the bulk of his snaps playing from the slot, leads the team in receiving yards. The Colts will also have to be mindful of tight end Dalton Kincaid as well. Tight ends this season have found success against the Indianapolis defense.
Other options in the passing game could include Mack Hollins, Curtis Samuel, and tight end Dawson Knox.
The Colts defense has been playing better as of late, but this is still a pass defense is still allowing the sixth-most yards per pass attempt on the year and the seventh-most passing yards per game as well.
Pressuring Allen doesn’t guarantee success for the Indianapolis defense, especially with his ability to get out of the pocket and extend plays, but it will be a must for the Colts. As you can imagine, with time in the pocket, Allen has been lights out.
