Nine games into the 2024 season, the Indianapolis Colts have reached the halfway point in their schedule heading into Week 10.
Although the 2025 NFL draft is still a long ways off, and the draft order can change a lot over the final eight games of the season, let’s take a look at where the Colts and the rest of the NFL stands in that regard.
When it comes to the first overall pick, there is a logjam with currently seven teams all with a 2-7 record–the worst in football. But with help from Draft Wire, here is how things shake out when the tie-breakers are factored in.
1. New England Patriots
2. Jacksonville Jaguars
3. New Orleans Saints
4. Carolina Panthers
5. Cleveland Browns
6. Las Vegas Raiders
7. New York Giants
After that group comes the Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans at 2-6, still in the mix for the first overall pick, following by the 3-6 Jets and the 3-5 Cowboys.
8. Miami Dolphins
9. Tennessee Titans
10. New York Jets
11. Dallas Cowboys
At No. 12 is the 4-6 Cincinnati Bengals, with the 4-5 Seahawks, Buccaneers, and the Indianapolis Colts next in line, following by a trio of 4-4 teams.
12. Cincinnati Bengals
13. Seattle Seahawks
14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
15. Indianapolis Colts
16. San Francisco 49ers
17. Los Angeles Rams
18. Chicago Bears.
The remaining group of teams are those who currently qualify for the playoffs. Using ESPN’s standings, here is how the rest of the draft order looks.
19. Denver Broncos
20. Arizona Cardinals
21. Los Angeles Chargers
22. Green Bay Packers
23. Houston Texans
24. Atlanta Falcons
25. Baltimore Ravens
26. Philadelphia Eagles
27. Minnesota Vikings
28. Pittsburgh Steelers
29. Washington Commanders
30. Buffalo Bills
31. Detroit Lions
32. Kansas City Chiefs
In addition to the draft order potentially changing a lot, so can team needs based on how the rest of the season plays out along with how each team goes about free agency–not to mention that prospects will move up and down draft boards as well.
But given where we stand right now, some needs for the Colts come next April may include cornerback, safety, and tight end, along with depth at running back and defensive tackle.
